Secret Sunrise

a couple weeks ago we had an interesting Comicon themed event here at the office hosted by the Secret Sunrise team. It is designed to get people out of the mundane, away from their desks and get moving. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Gloomy morning

Last Sunday, Fayyaaz and I headed out to Umhlanga after fajr to try and capture a sunrise over the ocean. Well we didn't actually see the sun rise as it was hiding behind a blanket of clouds. Nevertheless, even though we didn't see the sun rise over the horizon, it was a good learning experience.. I got to try out a new ND filter. Fayyaaz got to try out bracketing for the first time on his 10-18mm.

Here are some of my pictures from this event:

Eli turns 2

A couple weeks ago, I had the honour of shooting a fun filled party for Eli's 2nd birthday. I must say that his parents Armanda and Mark did an amazing job at organising the Dinosaur dig themed event with such intricate attention to detail.

Here are a few pictures from the event:

Autumn

After a hectic week in Johannesburg, Jamiela, Zayd and I woke early last Saturday morning to drive out to the Karkloof farmers market just outside Howick. Thereafter we headed over to the Umgeni Valley nature reserve. There were some breathtaking views but we couldn't maximise the drive as we didn't have a high clearance vehicle. We couldn't go to Howick without checking out the waterfall. It's always a nice vibe there with the local craftsmen showing off their wares. Thereafter a trip to Pietermaritsburg botanic gardens. Wow, the warm autumn colours were truly amazing.

Here are a few pictures from that day:

An Interesting Morning

Fayyaaz and I joined an event organised by Henry Starbuck to do a morning sunrise shoot. Just a group of crazy people up at 4am to go out, do some rock jumping in the dark with slops on, along the battering high tide and cyclic gusty winds nearly knocking us over. Oh and by the way trying to photograph a rising sun which was hiding behind the clouds.
